Manipulation of dormitory network infrastructure is strictly prohibited
Dear Students,
Recently, there has been an unauthorized interference with the network infrastructure in the dormitories.
We would like to remind you that any manipulation of the dormitory data network components is strictly prohibited and may constitute a serious violation of the Dormitory Rules and the General Accommodation Conditions.
The following is prohibited:
- Manipulating internet sockets, data cabling, or network equipment
- Dormitory Rules, Article III, Section 3.3.3 – prohibition of interfering with installations (data sockets, Wi‑Fi, electrical wiring).
- Disconnecting, relocating, or otherwise tampering with dormitory Wi‑Fi Access Points
- Dormitory Rules, Article III, Section 3.3.3 – prohibition of interfering with installations (data sockets, Wi‑Fi, electrical wiring).
- Connecting devices that are not related to study or normal dormitory use
- Dormitory Rules, Article III, Section 3.1.7 – prohibition of bringing in and using devices unrelated to study that may disrupt operations.
- Dormitory Rules, Article III, Section 3.3.1 – prohibition of using unauthorized electrical devices.
- Overloading the network with excessive traffic or improper device usage
- Rules for Connection and Acceptable Use of the Wired Data Network in Dormitories.
- Rules for the Operation and Use of Information Systems at the Prague University of Economics and Business (Rector’s Directive 2/2023).
- For VŠE users (internal users) and users accessing parts of the network managed by VŠE (users on VŠE premises and within range of VŠE-managed access points), Rector’s Directive 1/2007 applies.
Why this matters:
- Interference with the network causes internet outages for other students.
- It may lead to security incidents and disrupt the operation of the dormitory infrastructure.
- It constitutes a violation of the Dormitory Rules and may be classified as a serious breach of obligations.
If you experience internet issues:
- Information on how to report a network connectivity problem can be found here.
- Do not attempt to fix the issue yourself – our technicians will handle it.
Thank you for following the rules and helping maintain a stable and secure network connection for everyone.
