Scope of Activities
Facilities management department FMD (SÚZ), a separate structural unit of the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE), deals mainly with students’ accommodation and boarding. To provide facilities for the student community, it operates eight dormitories with more than 4000 beds and additional services: the University Hotel, Jarov Sportscenter, canteens, and more.
FMD (SÚZ) is managed by a director appointed by the VŠE Academic Senate, who is directly accountable to the rector’s office. Their task is to define the direction of future development of the halls of residence and canteens, depending on the school’s expected growth and the student community’s future needs. With their direct inferiors, the FMD (SÚZ) director supervises the quality of provided services and the operation and improvement of the halls of residence and canteens set by the rector’s office.
As mentioned above, a council of a hall of residence is an essential advisory and consulting authority for the director of FMD (SÚZ) and their direct inferiors. The student community elects the Council to represent the interests of students living in the FMD (SÚZ) dormitories. The councils of a hall of residence are essential partners cooperating with FMD (SÚZ) in the never-ending improvement of conditions of student life in the VŠE’s halls of residence. This connection between the management of SUZ and the student community via their appointed representatives contributes to higher socialization of individuals in the team and partial arrangement of their further development depending on new contacts in their surroundings.
